About The Event
Since 1955, The One Club Awards Denver, formerly The Annual Show, was created to honor businesses which were producing good, consistent design and advertising. Today, The One Club Awards Denver, continues this mission and showcases the region’s best work.
Over the years I have helped manage many award shows, the most recent in 2019. The 2019 One Club Awards Show was held on October 24th at The Cable Center in Denver, Colorado. Nearly 250 top creatives, account folks, and other industry guests attended the event. The evening began with a cocktail hour, hors d’oeuvres, and networking with a sampling of the past year’s Paper Fashion Show fashions created by local agencies and designers. Close to 100 awards were handed out.
Our team increased the net revenue by 40% from the previous year.
My Role
Below are the tasks I handled exclusively or played a key role in:
- Worked with a remote team of approximately 15 volunteers and our team in NY
- Managed team’s timelines and due dates
- Developed and managed the budget for the show
- Handled all finances for the show including deposits, sponsorship invoicing, ticketing, entry fees, and vendor payments
- Venue Management
- Our first venue was under construction, set to open 3 months prior to showtime. Construction was delayed and we were notified 1 month before our show that the venue would not be ready in time. Working with the venue manager, they helped me locate a new venue, The Cable Center. All event logistics were modified to accommodate the new venue in under 4 weeks.
- Created venue layout, taking careful consideration of table placement to allow easy access to and from stage and to key areas of venue
- Obtained liquor license
- Handled all rental items and equipment needed
- Managed printed show graphics
- Helped with setup and tear down
- Managed vendors including catering, bar, a/v and emcee
- Sponsor Management
- Recruited several sponsors
- Managed 10 individual sponsors including benefits, contracts, and day of logistics
- Award Show Entry System Setup and Management
- Setup of entry system
- Worked with judges and team in NY to handle technical issues
- Handled entrants technical issues and payments
- Managed Event Close Out
- Event breakdown with team
- Post show coverage including all video and photography
- Updating task management system and manual as needed
